English version
This weekend we went shopping to two local markets (and a supermarket). Here are some examples of what you can eat around here (photo quality is not great... these pictures were taken with my mobile).
Differents river fishes, like filhote (little son, but bad translation), piranha (I definitely have to try this), and curimbaia (that we will have for dinner tonight). And also a brigadeiro pizza (chocolate dessert).
In feira da Lua (Moon market), where you can mostly find clothes, you can also try some local food like sweets, cakes and pamonha (mashed corn). You can also eat espetinhos (barbecued meat and cheese), juices, pies...
Close to our place there is a fruit and vegetables market. Here are some of the fruits you can find there: pequi (fruit produced locally, great with rice), bananas, abacaxi (similar to pinneaple), watermelons, mangoes, oranges...
... and also some weird fruits that I don't even know the name (this fruit was more than 50 cms long).
Of course you can also find sugarcane, different sorts of peppers, palmito (kind of palm tree), corn and mandioca (a root).
Finally, my favorite food: ice-creams made out of Cerrado fruits (fruits from the surrounding forest)!
